K-20 Regional STEM Network
Workshop and Roundtable Series
The Kaput Center will be hosting 4 workshops/roundtables throughout
the academic year that will be led by a variety of people. Each session
will attend to a specific topic that impacts our regional STEM education
community. Attendance is free and Professional Development Points
(PDPs) will be awarded to teachers attending all 4 events.
All events will be supported by an on-line forum-based discussion
where registration (for networking purposes) can occur as well as
resources uploaded and reflection statements posted on what participants
learned, or affirmed, as a result of attending a session.
Roundtable I: Reactions and Reflections to Mass STEM Initiative & Common Core Standards
Abstract:
This Roundtable will focus on reactions and reflections to the Massachusetts STEM Initiative & Common Core Standards.
Goals:
- Generate a document/on-line dialogue for
educators/parents/researchers to understand why we need a STEM
initiative or Common Core
- How the STEM initiative and Common Core will impact the education of our children
- How will we assess the STEM initiative and Common Core
